Ko is a contemporary footwear company for women based in South Korea. Ko designs and sells shoes motived by Korean culture. We want to be a messenger and share the story of Korea around the world. Our comfortable and stylish shoes honor Korean culture.
The global footwear industry is still growing and has great potential for growth. According to World Footwear Yearbook, people in the world purchased 17,400 million pairs of shoes in 2010 and 19,393 million pairs of shoes in 2014. Also, Korean footwear exported 52% and US $352 million shoes worldwide. Ko found the opportunity to sell our products in Korea first and then globally. Moreover, foreigners are interested in Korean culture such as music, drama, food, fashion, etc. The number of foreign visitors in South Korea increased 8.8% in January 2015. Ko expects that our business is a perfect fit for the next generation of the increasing Hallyu, Korean Wave.
The first flagship store is located in In-Sa dong, which is the best and most famous place where traditional and modern cultures are united. This is the perfect place for our grand opening. There are lots of visitors and travelers looking forward to experiencing the history of Korea. Ko wants to be loved by women of all ages. But the main target is career women in their 20s to 30s. We provide easy to wear concepts for the modern lifestyle and designs for special occasions. Customers can choose shoes at reasonable prices as well as fine materials and exceptional quality. The product is roughly categorized into some categories, flat shoe, sneaker, seasonal shoe and limited edition which can include heels or other categories.
‘Made in Korea’ is one of the important keys in our business, and collaborating with customers is our primary concern. We join forces with talented unknown designers and nurture them.
Ko’s starting cost are estimated at $178,678 and expect a net sales of $645,050 for the first year with a gross margin of 65.2%. We will expand to sell our products online and wholesale after the first year.
